Your local foster care office – Darlington, Teesside and North Yorkshire
Welcome to the Swiis team in Darlington, Teesside and North Yorkshire.
We first set up in 2001 on a small industrial estate in Shildon, Co. Durham. Having outgrown the premises, we moved to Darlington in May 2005.
Our foster carers and staff attend a support group every third Wednesday of the month (excluding August and December due to holidays). The support group is a two-way process, with staff providing a welcome to new carers and then sharing information and updates. The carers have an opportunity to talk to each other, share ideas and strategies to manage challenging situations.
We offer a programme of workshops for young people aged 14+ to give them information and guidance to help to prepare for their future as independent adults. This covers topics such as budgeting, being healthy, basic first aid and food hygiene. A certificate is awarded on completion of each workshop.

Young people who have left Swiis Foster Care are encouraged to stay in touch with us and some go on to help with Moving Forward workshops, sharing their experiences with young people about the reality of moving on and living independently.
