Fostering in the South West

Our South West Swiis foster care service was set up in December 2013 and covers a vast area across the whole of the South East and South West of the UK. Our staff work tirelessly to provide excellent foster homes for children and young people, enabling them to be cared for and encouraged to reach their full potential.

Becoming a foster carer is a life-changing experience. We appreciate it is a big decision to make and we are here to provide exceptional support through a dedicated team of South West foster care specialists. Swiis provides carers with the highest quality training and resources to develop their knowledge and skills.

If you become a Swiis foster carer, you will receive a competitive fostering allowance, paid weekly, directly into your bank account. Swiis is one of the most generous and competitive agencies in the market because we recognise the exceptional value that our carers bring to the children and young people they look after.

“Having been a foster carer with Swiis for 9 years, I cannot recommend them highly enough.” John, Swiis Foster Carer

Support Group

We currently have four local carer groups based in London, Southampton, Devon and Bristol, giving our new foster carers plenty of options for finding a supportive group close to their home.

These groups are for foster carers to get together, share their own experiences with each other and offer support. Support may be an understanding ear, arranging to share transport or helping with childcare. The lead person in each of our local carer groups is called a “buddy” and they are the main contact for the group. Our foster carers really appreciate this service and often make good friends here.

Training locations

Located in the Queens Square area of Bristol City centre on Prince Street, the new South region fully accessible office is purpose built to meet the needs of our foster carers with large meeting rooms and ample parking.  Prince Street is easily accessed by public transport.

Situated just outside Exeter with easy access to the M5, the training facility is at a former Georgian Manor.

The training facility for Dorset is at Allendale House which is a Georgian building owned by the East Dorset Heritage Trust. It’s located in a small attractive market town in the heart of Dorset. Easy to get to for those travelling from Southampton, Bournemouth, Poole and Salisbury areas.

Areas Covered Include:

Somerset | Cornwall | Devon | Bristol | Gloucestershire | Dorset | Wiltshire | Hampshire
