A group of our young people have enjoyed an active few days during a residential weekend. Swiis Social Workers and Resource Workers from our Birmingham office took 33 of our children looked after for a fun-packed weekend in Wales.
The weekend allowed our young people to try out new activities, giving them the chance to learn new skills and grow in confidence as they took on a range of challenges.
They got to experience rock climbing, gorge walking and orienteering – all activities that involved them listening and working as a team. In our free time, we headed down to the beach to brave the cold sea for a quick paddle and wander along the shore.
Fostering has opened up opportunities for these young people. This weekend gave many of the young people the chance to take part in activities that they have never before had the chance to experience.
When we returned, there was a lot of tired, but happy children who had spent a weekend building memories that will last them a lifetime. The feedback from everyone involved in the weekend was excellent. It has proved so popular that we are considering doing two residential activities next year to allow our young people further opportunities.
