During half term, myself and a young child visited the fantastic Yorkshire Sculpture Park on a placement support session. We enjoyed a wonderful morning of fresh air, exercise, and best of all, exploring!

We collected lots of different sized sticks and carried them down to the bridge at the bottom of the hill. Then, we played ‘Poohsticks’ together by dropping the stick into the water from the bridge, then running to the other side, waiting to see the stick float through. The child clapped every time the stick made it.

On the way back up the hill, we explored the different trees, feeling the interesting textures of the bark. We collected more sticks, a few leaves and then visited the ducks.

At one point the rain came down, but it didn’t stop us from exploring. We then both enjoyed a lovely lunch in the café – we had certainly worked up an appetite!
