South Region foster care

Meet the Swiis Team

“Having been a foster carer with Swiis for 9 years, I cannot recommend them highly enough.” John, Swiis Foster Carer

In the heart of Bristol

Our Swiis Foster Care Bristol service was set up in December 2013 and covers a vast area across the whole of the South East and South West of the UK. Since opening the branch, we have been awarded a top-tier level in the Southwest. Our Swiis Foster Care team in the south is dedicated to delivering an exceptional service with children at the centre of everything they do to ensure positive outcomes for Children and Young People Looked After.

Support Group

We currently have four local carer groups based in London, Southampton, Devon and Bristol, giving our new foster carers plenty of options for finding a supportive group close to their home.

These groups are for foster carers to get together, share their own experiences with each other and offer support. Support may be an understanding ear, arranging to share transport or helping with childcare. The lead person in each of our local carer groups is called a “buddy” and they are the main contact for the group. Our foster carers really appreciate this service and often make good friends here.

Training locations

We can adapt to locations and accessibility where necessary for our clients/customers.

Who works in Bristol

Bristol Foster Care Registered Manager Joy Watterson

Joy Watterson

Registered Manager

Prior to joining Swiis, Joy worked primarily in child protection teams for ten years, as a Social Worker and Manager. This gave her extensive experience of child protection, the impact of abuse and trauma, and working within care proceedings in court. Joy has experience of training Social Workers in complex child protection decision making.
As the Registered Manager, Joy’s role is to manage the Social Work team, who support foster carers and the children in their placements. She has responsibility for safeguarding and ensuring regulatory compliance, as well as overseeing the foster carer assessment process and acting as Panel Advisor. Joy enjoys that this role gives her the ability to see the positive impact that foster carers and the multi-agency team can have on the lives of the children/young people that they care for.

Supervising Social Workers

These are the people that offer help and support to our foster carers, meeting periodically to discuss problems, successes and everything in between.
