Mossley Light Festival is a huge carnival inspired lantern parade, which will bring ancient Tame Valley legend to life. This year the theme is ‘A Tale of Two Giants’. This tells the story of the colossal Alphin and Alder and how they fought for the love of beautiful water nymph Rimmon. The age-old love triangle will be played out by large-scale and illuminated puppets, which have been created especially for the event. There will be musicians, dancers and bearers of handcrafted-lanterns that make up the moving spectacle. The love struck trio will wend their way from Bottom Mossley to the town’s market ground.
Family friendly activities, community stages, Santa’s grotto and traders’ stalls will take over Mossley market ground from 4-7pm. The town’s Christmas lights switch on will take place as the parade culminates at the market ground at around 6.30pm. The parade starts from outside Emmaus on Queen Street at around 5.30pm.
