Congratulations to the staff, foster carers, children and young people from our Leeds Yorkshire office who all completed a Colour Run on Sunday to raise money for Martin House Children’s Hospice in Leeds. Placement Support Worker, Alison Strodder-Murphy, tells us about it.
“Being part of a team and doing something for a worthy cause gives you a real sense of achievement, which was why we wanted to take part in the colour run. On the day, it was very hot, so everyone came prepared with sun cream on and water bottles. For two young people it was their first time taking part in a run, and they were very excited.
One of our young people decided he wanted to sprint round, and managed to finish in 5th place – an amazing achievement. The rest of us completed the Colour Run in our own time, doing a mixture of running, jogging and walking. Everyone did so well, especially in the heat. By the end we were a ray of rainbow colours and all received a Colour Run medal for our efforts.
So far, we have raised £410 and there is still money coming in. A member of the team and myself will visit Martin Hospice over the summer with the final collection of sponsor money. Everyone that took part in the Colour Run are champions. Thank you to those who came on the day to support us and those that sponsored us. We are now thinking about our next challenge.”
