Looking back to the Easter holidays in April, Kristina, our Placement Support Worker in the Swiis South region, tells us about the fun participation events that were held for our children, young people and carers. These days gives everyone a lovely opportunity to catch up.
“In Devon we went to The Bear Trail, a muddy adventure trail and obstacle course. And muddy it was! Everyone participating was covered from head to toe in the mud. One of us even got stuck in the mud and had to be rescued by a carer and a few of our young people. The Bear Trail is a great activity for us to do as it’s suitable for all ages, and there’s something for everyone to do.
This day trip gave our children and young people a great chance to practice their balance and coordination as they negotiated the course. More importantly, they worked well together as a team, encouraging everyone to try, and helping each other over the obstacles. By the time we finished, there was lots of chocolate Easter eggs and bunnies waiting for everyone to enjoy afterwards.
At our second event in Southampton, we went bowling, as requested by families. Some of the children and young people who attended hadn’t tried bowling before, but did really well. They showed off some impressive skills, cheered on everyone else and celebrated our carer Laura who snuck up from behind to win it all. Well done everyone for trying new activities and being supportive of one another!
We had a fantastic time at both of our participation events this Easter, and can’t wait for the next round of trips to see everyone.”
